What To Expect

Laying the Foundation for Total Health

Think of chiropractic care like building a house; everything needs to happen in the right order to ensure a strong, lasting structure. Just like a house needs a solid foundation before the walls and roof go up, your body needs a carefully planned approach to heal and function at its best. At Bodnar Chiropractic Center, we follow a structured plan of care that guides your body through three main phases of chiropractic treatment.

Initial Visit

Patient History and Symptoms

Your journey begins with a detailed look at your health history. Before your consultation, you’ll fill out forms to share information about your symptoms, lifestyle, and past medical history. Common questions include:

  • When and how did the pain start?
  • Where do you feel the pain?
  • Was it caused by an injury?
  • What activities make it better or worse?

You’ll also provide details on family medical history, previous injuries or surgeries, and lifestyle habits like exercise, diet, stress, and sleep. This helps your chiropractor understand the root cause of your pain and tailor care specifically for you.

Physical Exam

Next, your chiropractor will perform a thorough physical examination. This may include feeling your spine, assessing joint movement, watching your gait, testing muscle strength, reflexes, and range of motion. Additional tests may be used to evaluate posture, motion in affected areas, or overall spinal alignment, pinpointing the source of your discomfort.

X-Rays

X-rays provide a detailed view of your spinal structure and help your chiropractor see any underlying issues that might be contributing to your pain. This step is critical for creating a precise and effective treatment plan.

Follow-Up/ Report of Findings

After gathering all the information from your consultation, exam, and X-rays, your chiropractor will develop a personalized treatment plan. During your follow-up visit, they will review your findings, explain what’s causing your pain, and outline the recommended phases of care. Once your questions are answered, your first adjustment and therapy session will begin.

Phases of Care

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you’re experiencing pain, the first goal is to help you feel better. Depending on your condition, this may involve two to three visits per week for four to twelve weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective / Restorative Care

Once relief is achieved, the focus shifts to healing muscles and tissues more completely to prevent future injury. During this phase, care is typically scheduled four to eight times per month for six to twenty-four months, depending on your overall health and needs.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

After your body has healed, ongoing wellness care helps maintain your progress and prevent new issues. Usually, this involves one to four quick visits per month, tailored to your lifestyle and health goals.

By following this structured plan, your body can heal properly, stay aligned, and maintain long-term health. This helps you enjoy life with less pain and greater mobility.
